A massive game for Brighton this one. They come into this game on the back of two defeats against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. They simply must win this one against the worst side in the league by a mile. The only side that Rotherham have beat in the top half of the league this season was Norwich at home in a 2-1 victory. Apart from that game they have lost every other game against top half opposition, an incredible stat. Brighton have already battered Rotherham 3-0 back in August and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a similar scoreline today.

Only Sheffield Wednesday have returned from the John Smith Stadium with a clean sheet this season, so it will need a big performance from Villa’s back four to shut Huddersfield out today. Aston Villa won their last away game, but have been hopeless away from home for a couple of seasons. Villa have won only 3 times on their travels since being relegated and have managed only 4 clean sheets. Huddersfield took a point from Villa Park after a 1-1 draw and I think that scoreline has a good chance of repeating itself tonight.

Sheffield Wednesday’s home record against teams in the bottom 9 is extremely impressive, 7 wins, 1 draw and then whatever the outcome of this game is will complete that record. Burton haven’t beaten a team ranked 15th or above in any away game this season, their only two away wins have came against QPR and Rotherham so going to Hillsborough will be a big ask. Sheffield Wednesday come into this game with confidence after hammering Norwich 5-1 in their previous home game. I doubt it will be another hammering because Burton are quite well organised lately but I expect Sheffield Wednesday to take all 3 points.

Berwick are a point ahead of Clyde, but Clyde are on an awful run of form with 0 wins in their last 12 league games. They are sliding down the league and are in danger of being involved in a bottom of the table battle with Cowdenbeath. Berwick have failed to score only once in their previous 10 league games and are a bit of value to win tonight. They score an average of 1.67 goals per game at home, and play one of the leagues poorest defences. Clyde concede an average of 1.85 goals per game on their travels. Clyde have lost 7 of their last 8 away league games, 5 of those losses have been over 2.5 goals.

Nottingham Forest come into this game on the back of a 3-0 victory against Brighton. That was a terrific result and shows that they are improving after a run of poor results over the Xmas period. They are a strong side at home and if it wasn’t for that form then they’d be desperately close to the relegation zone. Only Wolverhampton and Barnsley have stopped them from scoring when playing at home. They’ve scored two or more against Newcastle, Brighton, Leeds, Villa, Birmingham, Burton, Wigan and Rotherham. Brentford haven’t managed a single clean sheet in 6 league games and you’d have to go back to the 13th December to find the last time they kept a clean sheet away from home. They concede an average of 1.72 goals per game on their travels because of that I feel that Nottingham Forest are a bit of value to make it back to back home wins, I also think this will be a high scoring game.
